Hello,

Welcome to our league. We want you all to play hard, have fun, but with the no. 1 thing, safety and sportmanship, in mind.

Due to the shortened game (40 min. running time), we find it unpractical to implement the full FIBA rule. Instead, we’ve revised it to hopefully make things simpler.

ADMINISTRATION
  • The full league fee is due by 1st regular season match.

  • Pay on time so we won’t hassle you about suspending the games or anything drastic alike.

  • Once the season has begun and the team fee paid, there will not be any refund under any normal circumstances unless there’s SARS outbreak, typhoon, flood or birdflus alike, then it’ll take a government’s order to shut us down….

  • Cash, personal cheque, or company cheque are all welcomed!
SCHEDULING MATTERS

Please send all rescheduling request in writing to asiasport@yahoo.com. Phone calls will not be officially noted. The written notice has to be received by organizer at least 48 hours from your game hour. In case of emergency please call 9639 0397

Forfeit is a most un-desirable method of ending a game. Use this only if all other option is exhausted….

The schedule that appears on the website: http://www.scbleague.com is set in stone…any team may request for rescheduling as long as the opposing team agrees to the change. The opposing team has the right to refuse. The organizing party does not have influence over any decision made.

  • A 300 HK fee will be charged for all rescheduled games involving renting of new courts

  • Play-off schedules, once published on website, are not subject to change under ANY circumstances. Exception for championship game (both teams will have (10) days from the original final game date to decide a new date, otherwise co - champion will be awarded.
REFEREES

Our refs, some are volunteers, gets a fair amount of venting from players. It is understandable but beware your method of venting.
  • DISCUSS with our refs (only thru the captain or someone calm), taking matter into your own hands while pissed off can add fuel to fire!!

  • Excessive yelling, kicking at object (s), abusive language will land you a 'T' technical foul

  • 'Un-sportsman like' or 'flagrant' fouls are all considered technical fouls as well as personal fouls. (2) ‘ technical fouls', will be ground for automatic ejection from the game.

  • Strong physical confrontation - Any players kick or punch the other person can be grounds for a minimum of (3) game suspension or depends on severity - suspension for the season. The player detected of provoking can receive the same penalty as the one delivering the blow.

  • If you accumulate 6 technical fouls in the same season, you will be suspended for the remainder of the season with the possibility of not allowed to be back into the league in the ensuing season(s)
GENERAL 'HOUSE' RULES

Our refs would love to let you play as long as you cut down the reaching and hacking fouls….

Our league is multi-cultural but leans towards the North American style, while one action may be accepted in one part of the world, elsewhere might be a gross violation.

Aside from the usual rules 'travelling, 3 secs in the key, carrying the ball', etc. please note following:

  • Yelling at the shooter 'shot' is accepted in our league.

  • Big man' play 'low post' is allowed, just don't 'bounce' the opposing player, it could lead to double foul (foul on both players) or double-technical.

  • When rebounding, hand or elbow hitting the opposing player's head, shoulder will be called 'over the back'

  • One hand 'hand check' is allowed, waistline or below.

  • Dribbling with one hand protecting the ball above the waistline will be consider 'offensive charge'

  • There's a zero tolerance on trash talking

  • The black belt above the backboard is considered inbound territory, play continues.

  • Back-court violation (with exception to jumpball in the beginning of 1st and 2nd half) happens as long as the ball has been advanced to opponents half-court and regardless of ball-control.

  • Time-outs can be called anytime when there's a whistle, deadball, in-between free-throws or by anyone on your team while the ball is in your possession.

  • Substitition can happen anytime when there's a whistle, deadball, or between free-throws.

  • The 30 second shot-clock will be switched on in the last three (3) min. of 2nd half.

  • 'Un-sportsman like' or 'flagrant' fouls are both considered technical fouls as well as personal fouls.

  • Regular season games, unless specially announced, will consist of (2) twenty minutes halves. A running clock will be used except for time-outs and the last (2) minutes of the second half. Overtime is (2) minutes running time. Double-over-time is (1) minute running time. If the gym is closing and the lights are turning off, then the game is finished. The team leading in scoring shall be awarded a 'win'.

  • Each game will start no later than (10) min. after the hour. A game can start if a team has (3) players present at game time. The team without (5) players, with permission from the opposing team, may fill their line-up by picking up any players standing by.

  • In last minute scramble, you must foul the player with the ball.

  • Play-off eligibility is (1) games in the regular season. Any ineligible player can cause their team disqualification. No petition will be entertained once the deadline has passed.

  • Fans cheering or hollering at the opposing team – most teams in our league has zero fans but if your fans feels the strong urge to cheer, boo, or holler at the opposing team, please let us know so we can inform the other team before the game so they can be mentally prepared...

The organizing party reserves the right to change any of the rules for the betterment of the league.
